The problem

AAIC needed a page for an 80-year milestone. Their existing layout system was not suited to a custom anniversary campaign page, and the fundraising campaign established a firm launch deadline.

The approach

I started with a wireframe to establish the layout and feel, refined it with stakeholders, secured approval, and built it on their WordPress site.

The timeline

The page is built around a vertical timeline that traces AAIC’s history from 1956 to today. Each milestone gets its own card, alternating left and right along a central line. Every card has a year, a short story, and an archival photograph.

Archival photographs give the timeline a personal connection to AAIC’s history, and each one opens in a full-screen lightbox when selected. The page lazy-loads the images so the long-form experience remains responsive, even on slower connections.

The rest of the page is a short editorial piece connecting AAIC’s founding to today, with the fundraising invitation presented after the historical narrative. The whole thing sits inside their existing WordPress site, so the team can update it through the existing editing interface.
